‘Operations’ at Zim Sailing encompasses the sourcing of materials, boats, and components from vendors, understanding and managing the supply chain logistics, working with our production staff to improve quality, consistency and lower costs, and working with our sales team to educate the staff on the many technical aspects and features of our products.
The ideal candidate would be technically savvy, hands on, and have some knowledge of composites, plastics, and metals used in the small dinghy market. This is not just a desk job; time spent working in the shop is expected.
Some travel will be required to visit and work on projects with our vendors. Problem solving and multi-tasking skills are a must and you’ll need strong verbal and written communication skills to make sure all parties are on the same page.
We’re a small company, giving you the opportunity to see all the interactions within the company and how each team pitches in to help another when needed.
Job Responsibilities Include
Procurement planning, negotiating and scheduling of orders with key vendors
Creating process documentation, work instructions, and construction manuals to train production workers how to build assemblies and rigging
Refining processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement in production efficiency
Leading the design of new products and components
Evaluating new materials for quality and value
This employee will be responsible for representing Zim Sailing at events and in-office sales/customer service support. This individual will also be a product / project leader for recreational sailboats.
Events are Regattas, Boat Shows, Trade Shows, Demo Days, US Sailing Championships, etc. This includes all the side work of planning, loading equipment, driving trailers, setting up and derigging for the event, and everything in reverse to move on to the next event.
In-office activities are working with the existing sales and customer service team to provide support for retail sales, inside and outside sales, and other duties related to sales and customer service.
Handle all logistics associated with Zim Sailing’s involvement in the US Sailing Junior Olympic Sailing Festivals across the country.
Be the team leader on documenting, resolving, and follow up on any customer problems or services issues.
Travel to events locally and throughout North America that include: Regattas, Boat Shows, Trade Shows, Demo Days, US Sailing Championships, etc.
Seasonal Retail Sales Associates (April/May to August)
These individuals will work in the field selling parts and gear at events throughout Southern New England. They will also work out of our retail store where they will help with retail sales and customer service, as well as picking and packing orders, providing eCommerce support, and helping with local charters as well.
