Zim Sailing, based in Rhode Island, provides one-design sailboats, parts, accessories, and services to the North American market. The principals of our company are lifelong sailing enthusiasts with boat building experience spanning over 40 years.
We engage in grass roots youth development of yacht club junior sailing programs, community sailing programs, and high school and collegiate sailing programs. Zim Sailing can be found at regattas around the country, providing support with charter boats and onsite sales and service.

The Zim Team
Zim Sailing is focused on youth sailing because we care about growing the sport. As lifelong sailors we have benefited from our experience in the sport. It is our goal to help grow the sport by producing quality products at exceptional value for the small boat sailing market. Our management team of sailors knows the importance of product performance, reliability, and value for the money.
Steve has been a part of the sailing world since a very young age, building and racing Tornado catamarans starting in his early teens. With over 20 years experience building boats, including ten years with Vanguard Sailboats, he's been able to apply his engineering background to build high quality and durable products. His passion for sailing, both as a participant and a manufacturer, keep him focused on finding ways to support and grow the sport.
Bob Adam is the VP of Sales. Bob has been in the marine industry for many years to include positions at Doyle Sails, North Sails, Vanguard Sailboats and Laser Performance. In addition, Bob has spent a number of years coaching High School, College and several off season clinics for Optimist sailors on Narragansett Bay. Bob has won several local, regional and national championships in several one-design classes. Bob can be seen at many youth regattas throughout the country. In his spare time he loves sailing around Narragansett Bay on many of the Zim boats. He and his wife Stephanie have 2 children, Bradley and Grace.
Bo is a lifelong sailor who grew up sailing at New Bedford Yacht Club, sailed for and was the captain of the Bishop Stang High School sailing team, and in college founded the UMass Dartmouth sailing club. Bo also taught sailing for several years at Community Boating Center New Bedford. Bo brings a wealth of experience in the small boat sailing industry to Zim. Bo graduated with a BA in Marketing from UMass Dartmouth in 2006. He then worked in Sales, Marketing and Customer Service at Laser Performance (formerly Vanguard Sailboats) for 9 years. Most recently, Bo worked as the Associate Director for Community Boating Center New Bedford.
John grew up racing on the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire and served as team Commodore of the UNH Sailing team. John has spent time coaching junior sailing in both Kentucky and Maine, and also enjoys offshore sailing, having a transatlantic and numerous deliverers to the Caribbean and back under his belt. John is excited to help grow sailing through his work at Zim. Look for him at championship events across the country driving our giant charter trailer!
Nate joined the team in 2013 as a sales and marketing executive. A native of Barrington RI, Nate grew up sailing and racing around Narragansett Bay. He brings a variety of experience to Zim, everything from coaching and managing sailing programs, to working in retail sales and internet marketing. An avid skier and sailing enthusiast, Nate looks forward to bringing his passion to others in the industry, and helping grow the sport of sailing.
A Southern New Englander at heart and native of Mystic CT, Chris grew up junior sailing on Fisher’s Island Sound. Prior to graduating from the University of Connecticut, he attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland where he sailed on the dinghy team. Having coached and raced both locally in New England and internationally, Chris is excited to share his enthusiasm for the sport with others who visit Zim’s headquarters in Rhode Island and at charter events around the country.
Laura, a Severna Park, MD native and lifelong sailor, grew up competing in primarily dinghy, one design, and more traditional classes such as the Penguin and Star boats. She studied Corporate and Organizational Communication and was a member of the Varsity Sailing Team at the College of Charleston. Previously, she worked for the International Star Class Yacht Racing Association as their Communication, Media Relations, and Marketing Director, providing her the opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of roles within all areas of the international sailing community. In 2015 she won her first major event, the 2015 International Lightning Class World Championship and continues to compete at the championship level in several different classes. In April 2016, Laura joined the Zim team as Marketing and Sales executive.
