Zim Sailing, based in Rhode Island, provides one-design sailboats, parts, accessories, and services to the North American market. The principals of our company are lifelong sailing enthusiasts with boat building experience spanning over 40 years.
We engage in grass roots youth development of yacht club junior sailing programs, community sailing programs, and high school and collegiate sailing programs. Zim Sailing can be found at regattas around the country, providing support with charter boats and onsite sales and service.

Zim Sailing is focused on youth sailing because we care about growing the sport. As lifelong sailors we have benefited from our experience in the sport. It is our goal to help grow the sport by producing quality products at exceptional value for the small boat sailing market. Our management team of sailors knows the importance of product performance, reliability, and value for the money.
Steve Perry - President
Steve has been a part of the sailing world since a very young age, building and racing Tornado catamarans starting in his early teens. With over 20 years experience building boats, including ten years with Vanguard Sailboats, he's been able to apply his engineering background to build high quality and durable products. His passion for sailing, both as a participant and a manufacturer, keep him focused on finding ways to support and grow the sport.
Bob Adam - Vice President of Sales
Bob Adam is the VP of Sales & Marketing. Bob has been in the marine industry for many years to include positions at Doyle Sails, North Sails, Vanguard Sailboats and Laser Performance. Bob specializes in fleet orders from yacht clubs, community sailing centers, high schools and colleges. Bob can be seen at many youth regattas throughout the country passing along his passion and expertise to young sailors. In addition, Bob attends many regional and national conferences to keep his finger on the pulse of sailing throughout North America. When not enjoying Narragansett Bay, Bob can be seen on his road bike or at the gym. He and his wife Stephanie have 2 children, Bradley and Grace.
Bo Williams - National Sales Manager
Bo is a lifelong sailor who grew up sailing at New Bedford Yacht Club, sailed for and was the captain of the Bishop Stang High School sailing team, and in college founded the UMass Dartmouth sailing club. Bo also taught sailing for several years at Community Boating Center New Bedford. Bo brings a wealth of experience in the small boat sailing industry to Zim. Bo graduated with a BA in Marketing from UMass Dartmouth in 2006. He then worked in Sales, Marketing and Customer Service at Laser Performance (formerly Vanguard Sailboats) for 9 years. Most recently, Bo worked as the Associate Director for Community Boating Center New Bedford.
FJ Ritt - Operations Manager
FJ Ritt grew up in Marblehead MA sailing Lightnings with his brother and father and raced dinghy classes through college. For the past several years, he has been involved in growing the sport through various youth and community programs and most recently was the fleet manager for the Courageous Sailing Center in Boston MA. He has an operational logistics background and a ABYC Master Technician certification in Marine Systems. FJ is currently working on re-commissioning a J35 and continues to compete in one-design classes in the summer and frostbites the "dynamic" N10 class in the winter.
Nate Williams - Retail Sales Manager
Nate joined the team in 2013 as a sales and marketing executive. A native of Barrington RI, Nate grew up sailing and racing around Narragansett Bay. He brings a variety of experience to Zim, everything from coaching and managing sailing programs, to working in retail sales and internet marketing. An avid skier and sailing enthusiast, Nate looks forward to bringing his passion to others in the industry, and helping grow the sport of sailing.
Chris O'Donnell - Technical Projects
A Southern New Englander at heart and native of Mystic CT, Chris grew up junior sailing on Fisher’s Island Sound. Prior to graduating from the University of Connecticut, he attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland where he sailed on the dinghy team. Having coached and raced both locally in New England and internationally, Chris is excited to share his enthusiasm for the sport with others who visit Zim’s headquarters in Rhode Island and at charter events around the country.
Carson Turowski - Charter Executive
Born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland, Carson learned to sail at the Severn Sailing Association and competed for his high school, the Severn School in Severna Park, MD. He then attended Eckerd College where he was the Captain of the Sailing Team and graduated in 2005 with a BA in Business Management. Carson shares many years of industry experience at Laser Performance (formerly Vanguard Sailboats) with fellow team members Bob Adam and Bo Williams. Most recently, Carson worked as the Aftermarket Sales and Distribution Representative for Hall Spars and Rigging. When he’s not working, you’ll most likely find him racing in Newport on a Thistle or j24 with his wife, Lindsey.
Andrew Labbe - Sales Associate
Andrew Labbe grew up sailing on Narragansett Bay. From Lasers to 420s, he was constantly competing in the NBYA from a young age. His passion for team and fleet racing was clear during his time at Bishop Hendricken High School, and eventually Mass. Maritime Academy. Since then, he has taken his sailing ability to coaching, instructing everything from optis to j22 racing classes. His most recent position was with Sail Newport, managing their fleet of fourteen j22s and ensuring they maintained world class racing condition. He is excited to be joining team Zim and continuing to further his passion for the sport of sailing.
John Krystyniak - Rigging Lead
John is a lifelong sailor who hails from Florida's west coast. He has 30 plus years of experience on the water, sailing everywhere from the East Coast, Gulf Coast, Bahamas, Caribbean, and everything in between. He holds a number of certifications including Marine Surveyor, US Sailing Level 2 Coach, and US Powerboating instructor. He brings a lot of energy to the team and is ready to help Zim Sailing continue to move dinghy sailing forward.
